51st. Annual Skip Jack races on Deal Island, Maryland

The weather was beautiful and the festival was wonderful. Enjoyed it very much. Here are a number of images.

In case you don’ t know, Skip Jacks are fishing vessels used to dredge oysters in the Chesapeake Bay. They are a dying

breed of boat. These have been refurbished and maintained to be able to stay sea worthy.

There were antique cars.

Sunset was just beautifully done.

There were 12 total Skip Jacks that raced.

"Fawn"

This was my treat for the week. “Anchor Wallace Publication’s ” had purchased the useĀ  of this image for the next two year period.

It was photographed last year at Big Meadows on Skyline Drive, Virginia. It was the 4th of July.
